The only AVMA-accredited, AAHA-recommended veterinary technology program available.
"The online classes are great for people
who don’t have time to go to an on-campus class."
— Sandy Szalkiewicz,
Wauconda, IL
DEVTP is an AVMA-accredited college degree program where veterinary assistants
and other support staff have an opportunity to earn an associate's degree
in veterinary technology. You can fulfill your personal goals and boost
your career—without the hassles of commuting to a campus.
DEVTP is offered by Cedar Valley College (CVC) in Dallas, Texas, in conjunction
with AAHA. CVC opened in 1977 and has offered a campus-based AVMA-accredited
Veterinary Technician Program since 1978. CVC is part of the Dallas County
Community College District. In September 1998, the CVC/AAHA Distance Education
Veterinary Technology Program enrolled its first students, and in September
2001, it was accredited by the AVMA. The college's distance learning program
enrolls more than 500 students each semester in DEVTP courses.
DEVTP includes:
- Core content that focuses on
advanced education in pharmacy and pharmacology, surgical preparation
and assistance, animal nursing, radiology and ultrasound, and laboratory
procedures
- Multimedia courses that
combine workbooks, textbooks, videos, Internet assignments and in-clinic exercises to deliver challenging,
hands-on education
- Flexible scheduling designed
specifically for working adults—no commuting or altering
work and family life to accommodate class schedules
- Optimal student-teacher contact—professors
are available via fax, phone, or email for questions
and support
- Specialized general education
requirements with courses such as speech and math that are designed
to apply to the world of veterinary medicine

“We value education in our practice and DEVTP gives us a chance to offer education to employees who otherwise wouldn’t be working toward a degree. It improves our practice. It improves our quality of care. It improves our team.”
— Virginia Hills, Practice Manager
Day Hollow Animal Hospital, Owego, NY
DEVTP allows you to offer your staff a benefit that benefits you—the opportunity to grow themselves personally and professionally, while becoming more valuable to your practice.
Your staff knows how to perform the tasks expected of them, but you can make their work more meaningful and have more confidence in their performance. Let DEVTP give them a deeper understanding of why we do things the way we do, where the latest developments in veterinary medicine are coming from and what they mean to your practice.

"I found
that the CVC faculty has been more than helpful. They even set aside
time after hours to tutor me. I am very fortunate to have found the
DEVTP and to be in a work environment that’s willing to help me
achieve my goal."
