The Denver Marriott West is a full service hotel offering complimentary newspaper and morning coffee, room service, two renowned restaurants and lounges, a complete exercise facility, sauna, indoor and outdoor pool, clean and comfortable sleeping rooms, and friendly staff. You will receive a special discounted rate for staying at the Denver Marriott West when you tell them you are with AAHA when you make your reservation. What do I need to know before I book my flight to Denver?

You will need to arrive in Denver the day before the program starts. Please check the agenda for the time the program ends on the last day so that you know when to book your return flight. We highly recommend and encourage you to stay for the entire last day. Travel time to the airport from our headquarters is approximately one hour. You will need to allow for an additional 45 minutes at the airport to go through security, ride the terminal train, and arrive at your gate in plenty of time. How will I get to the hotel from Denver International Airport (DIA)?

You may elect to rent a car, take a taxi, or take a shuttle from DIA to the Denver Marriott West. There are several shuttle services available. Please visit http://www.flydenver.com/gt/index.asp for a listing of carriers going to Golden, CO.

Can I bring my laptop to the program?

We understand that people have different learning styles and may require the assistance of a laptop to take notes during the program. If this is the case, please call us at 800/252-2242 to let us know in advance. The Denver Marriott West does have Internet capabilities in their sleeping rooms, however, so that you can check your email in the evenings.

How should I dress for the program?

Please dress comfortably. We will do our utmost to keep the temperature of the meeting room pleasant and consistent, however, you may feel like you will need a sweater or jacket. Depending on the weather outside, you may need to bring a heavy coat and/or boots.

What is the weather like in Colorado?

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Please let AAHA know if you are allergic to any foods or have other dietary restrictions that would require a special meal. This also means that if you are a vegan, vegetarian, or just don’t like something, we will need to know. We are happy to accommodate every request, however, we hope that you tell us in advance so that we will be prepared.

What does the learning environment look like?

The different learning modalities of the program include lecture, hands-on learning, case studies, and team exercises.

How will I have a chance to network with others?

There are numerous opportunities to network with other colleagues and peers in the industry. First of all, you can visit with each other during continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, and various other times throughout the program. At the end of the program, you will be given an updated class roster including e-mail addresses of everyone else at the program so that you can further communicate with your classmates.

What is there to do when I am not in class?

There are many opportunities to enjoy the sights of Colorado that are close to the Denver Marriott West. Please check out their web site at www.stayatmarriott.com/AAHA. for local restaurants, shopping, movies, skiing, golf, parks, etc.

What other materials should I bring to class?

Depending on the program you are registering for, you may receive complimentary AAHA publications to review prior to the class. These materials and other related information will be sent to you along with your confirmation letter after you have registered. You will also receive a binder containing the notes from the class, a pad of paper, pens, name badge, Continuing Education Letter, and in some cases, a Certificate of Completion.

What about tours or sightseeing while I’m in Denver?

AAHA has not made arrangements for off-site tours. If you wish to make your own arrangements for local tours or outings, please check out www.stayatmarriott.com/AAHA or www.denver.org. Do not make arrangements for tours during session times, however.
